Latvia's first dedicated inflammatory bowel disease care unit, opened at Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital. It provides integrated multidisciplinary outpatient care following the European ECCO guidelines — monitoring, personalised therapy and therapy management, nutrition advice and screening — delivered by a core team of a gastroenterologist, an IBD nurse and a colorectal surgeon. It states that it also covers specialised IBD groups, including pregnant patients, older patients and patients who have had surgery.
