Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov)
Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD) Unit (היחידה למחלות מעי דלקתיות)
The IBD Unit of the Institute of Gastroenterology and Liver Diseases treats Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, and runs an unusually long list of clinics of its own: bacteriotherapy, a joint dermatology and gastroenterology clinic, a transition clinic for adolescents, a pouch clinic, a medical cannabis clinic, a nutrition clinic and a joint rheumatology and gastroenterology clinic. It is directed by a gastroenterologist whose stated expertise is inflammatory bowel disease and bacteriotherapy, and a coordinating nurse is named beside him. The unit is on the first floor of the Sourasky building, wing D.
What this unit is strong at
- Seven named sub-clinics — bacteriotherapy, dermatology and gastroenterology, adolescent transition, pouch, medical cannabis, nutrition, and rheumatology and gastroenterology
- A transition clinic for adolescents moving to adult care
- A pouch clinic — follow-up care for people living with a pouch, which almost no unit publishes separately
- Bacteriotherapy, including faecal microbiota transplantation, as a named clinic
- Two joint clinics with the specialties IBD most often turns up in — skin and joints
- A named coordinating nurse
