The Struttura Semplice Dipartimentale per le Malattie Infiammatorie Croniche Intestinali at Policlinico di Sant'Orsola is an inpatient-plus-outpatient structure and part of the Emilia-Romagna regional reference network for inflammatory bowel disease. It descends from the study-and-treatment centre for these diseases founded in the 1970s. It is one of Italy's largest IBD centres by patient volume, handling complex cases from across the country.

The Ambulatorio M.I.C.I. within the Gastroenterology department at Spedali Civili di Brescia offers a full inflammatory bowel disease pathway, from specialist visits and diagnostics to conventional and second-line therapies including biotechnological drugs and small molecules. It runs as part of a multidisciplinary IBD-TEAM with dedicated medical-nursing staff for infusional therapy, and provides dietary and psychological support. Joint medical-surgical clinics are held weekly.

The Centro malattie infiammatorie croniche intestinali (MICI) is a regional reference centre (Centro di Riferimento Regionale) belonging to the Gastroenterology department at Careggi. The surgical side runs from day-case procedures for perianal disease through to ileo-anal pouch surgery, with specialist stoma nurses and a nurse case manager afterwards.
