The Clínica de Enfermedad Inflamatoria Intestinal opened in March 2023 and cares for people with chronic idiopathic ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease from across the country, coordinating gastroenterology, coloproctology, nutrition, psychology, rheumatology, ophthalmology, dermatology, radiology and endoscopy around the same patient. The Health Ministry states it follows over 350 patients and that in 2025 it was certified by the Pan American Crohn's and Colitis Organisation, audited by Bureau Veritas — a review covering clinical records, care protocols, equipment and staff training.
